The Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital provides 24-hour-a day veterinary services in the heart of Hollywood. The project was conceived and designed around animals’ extreme sensitivity to their surroundings. We used a soothing color scheme of grays, greens and blues, as well as friendly and reassuring materials. The built-in lighting fixtures and lights hanging in the two reception areas create a welcoming and functional ambience.  As an emergency animal hospital, MASH caters to a wide-ranging demographic group, so we made it a priority to create an inclusive, cozy and open space for everyone. We created a  special area with parquet flooring for pet owners, and a meeting room where veterinary doctors and specialists could discuss work matters and receive training, helping them to handle their often-challenging jobs. In the reception areas and waiting rooms we used wallpaper with eye-catching patterns to give a visual distraction to help people cope with tense or anxious waits. One of the design priorities was to create fun, friendly and relaxing reception areas. We combined maple wood and marble to give a sense of calm and an elegant touch.
